March 27 Finally Getting There! For the first time since College, I am in the 250's......!!!!! I am pumped! Now I can't wait to get even further below that. Will see. March 25 We got the shoesWell we did it; we broke down and bought cycling shoes. I am sure I will be fine on the stationary cycling bikes but I am not sure how many times I will fall off of my bike when my shoes are clipped in and i am trying to get off the bike! March 20 Is this scale right?Last night we weighed in at the gym. My broken record comment....is this scale right? I made Bill grab a weight to measure the scale. Sure enough it was pretty much on! Another 3 pounds off! YEAH!!! March 15 Please Support UsIt is with great excitement that we announce our participation in the Bike MS 2008! The Bike MS event will take place on August 16th 17th. I am asking you to join the movement by making a contribution to support my efforts.
The National MS Society is committed to building a movement by and for people with MS that will move us closer to a world free of this disease. Donations collected for Bike MS continuously fund research for a cure, while also providing services and support for those currently living with MS. I am riding this year because I believe in the mission of the National MS Society. More than 400,000 Americans live with MS and every donation will help us find a cure.
Please help by making a donation or joining my team. Join me, and together we can create a world free of MS. I greatly appreciate your support and I will keep you posted on my progress.
March 11 What were our Goals!Bill and I set out with non descript goals. We wanted to lose weight and if that meant Bill's high blood pressure went a way great; and if that meant the aches and pains in Katie's knees went away great again. But what we have found on this journey is a long term goal of being healthy for life. And as mentioned we have decided to participate in Pedal to the Point in August. Not only do we phyiscally need to be ready for the ride but we also get tickets to get into Cedar Point amusement park. Why is this significant??? Because the last time we went; Bill and I couldn't ride most of the rides because we were too overweight......HOW EMBARSSING!! So this journey has lead us to a very measurable goal that doesn't focus on just weight; but more on fitness and health! Not the end of the RoadIt is 9:20 pm here, Bill and I have just gotten back to the house after volleyball. I am looking back at what we have done over the past couple months and it is amazing. We have really incorporated some healthy life style changes over the past 3 months. And I truly believe that the changes are ones we can keep up. Even though I feel my weight loss has been slow I had a weight loss. For the last two years I have just seen the scale increase....for it to be decreasing is WONDERFUL! I can't wait to go to the doctor at the end of the month!
I know we are going to keep going on this website, but I just wanted to thank everyone for their support and advice! Bill and I have enjoyed this experience!
Like Bill said we would love to be the biggest losers! I would love to get my butt kicked by any one of the trainers!
Good luck to everyone and we'll see you online for the rest of our weight loss journeys! NEXT BIGGEST LOSER COUPLESI think Katie and myself would be a good fit for the next couples show! what do you think? LifeStyle ChangeWell I did not work out at all yesterday becuase of work, kids and running around that I had to do. I felt bad for not working out so I got my butt out of bed this morning and took a 5:30 am spinning(cycleops) class. It is around 8:30 am now and I feel pretty good but will see if I am dragging tonight. March 09 We are almost done :(Only 2 days left???? Wow that went by quickly! Bill and I are still working hard. We have goals to reach for. The biggest goal we have is to get inshape for the Pedal to the point. Both of us are measuring our success by weight loss; but I can tell you the true test of our success will be completing the 175 mile bike race. February 27 Good Information!Well I have been on this website a few times but the dietitian that is one of our resources for our Weight Management class stressed looking at it tonight so I did. www.mypyramid.gov If you haven't been on it yet you should go. It has great tools for tracking intake, and exercise and then it will spit out tons of information about your dietary needs vs what you are consuming. February 26 Me and TroySNOWSo the gym closed early tonight, volleyball was canceled so how did I get a work out in?????????????????????????? Well I (and Bill) shoveled our side walk and driveway with at least 6 inches of heavy WET SNOW!!!!! And it is still coming down!!!!!!!!!!!! foodI don't know what it is this last week but I have felt so hungry. I haven't really changed any thing but especially at work I have felt like I just can't find enough to eat. Typically I pack my lunch and a small snack for that late afternoon craving and I have done that all week but I keep wanting more. So I have tried to to fill up on water, physically that is fine but mentally it is hard to get over that thought that I need to eat something.
Well tomorrow in our weight loss class at the gym the dietitian is bringing a chef with her! I can't wait! February 18 Testing My Surgically repaired AnkleYesterday after I finished off a 60 min spinning(cycle ops) class a group off old friends asked me to play some walleyball. Well I haven't done anything like that since I had my achilles tendon surgery back in Aug so I figured now is as good as time as any to test it out and see where I am with it. To my amazement there was no pain and no problems. Some stiffness still but no pain thank god! This summer might be looking up, not only is my foot going to be better but I am getting to be in the best shape that I have been in for over 10 years. February 17 Katie~Chocolate Chip CookiesWhy must we crave the things we shouldn't eat? Yesterday Bill bought Heather (his youngest daughter) some chocolate chip cookies. Number one why would he buy those to tempt me? Number two why couldn't I just say no? I have been finding it harder and harder to eat what I should and look past what I shouldn't. Now that I am pretty committed to my work outs. I need to focus on food again. It is so hard with the schedules we lead. I wish that they would show a whole season of the biggest loser where people stay at home and have to deal with what we are all dealing with. Bill and I both hold two jobs, raise two teenage girls and fit workouts in between all that running around. Sometimes by the time I think of what to make for dinner it is 6:00 and I am driving home; realizing I haven't gone to the store so there is are limited options. February 09 Katie~ ZUMBAHi all!
Bill and I have been so busy the last two weeks. We have been fitting in exercise but not logging on to blog January 31 QUESTION about Eating OutSo yesterday I realized we did not have time to cook but yet I wanted to get something healthy to eat for me and Katie so I did not know where to go. I thought about the usual fast food places like McDonalds,Wendys, Taco Bell but then I remembered thats not good for us. So I turned to the local restruants like Applebees, TGI Fridays and places like that. I ended up ordering from TGI Friday right portion meals, problem was that once I order for me and Katie and our 2 girls it was expensive. So my question to everyone is what do you do? Take out just does not work, fast food does not work. How do you eat healthy when your in a hurry. Talking to Katie last night I guess we realize we just need to plan better but we are just so busy all the time. January 29 2 ThingsAs far as the Pedal to the Point Katie is talking about I plan on going both days!!! Also today I did it I got my butt out of bed at 5:00am and went to a spinning class at the gym. It is about 8:30 am now and I must admit I feel pretty good, however I have a busy day today so will see how I feel at the end of it. January 26 Pedal to the PointBill and I have decided that our long term goal is to participate in Pedal to the Point this August. This is a 75 or 150 mile bike ride from the Cleveland area to the Sandusky area (Cedar Point Amusement Park). We will probably do the one way trip of 75 miles. I mentioned in my cycling class on Thursday that this was a goal of ours and I found out that a husband and wife in the class had been doing it for about 10 years. They gave us a lot of information and encouragement. Pedal to the Point is also a fundraise for MS. Wish us luck! I have a hard time making it through an hour of cylcing now, I have 7 months to make 6 hours do able! January 22 Just when you want to give upSo yesterday was a rough day on the psychee. I am stepping on the scale and I am not seeing the loss that I thought I would see by now. I have been tracking my weight, watching what I am eating and working out 5-6 days a week. I felt really down and discouraged. Then at the end of the day something is said to me.....Katie you look like your starting to slim down! WOW.....that is all I needed to keep going....for now anyway |
